Prince Edward, Duke of York (1739-1767), was the younger brother of George III of the United Kingdom, the second son of Frederick, Prince of Wales and Augusta of Saxe-Gotha. Admiral and second in command of the Channel Fleet with Earl Howe as his flag captain. He took part in the expedition to Cherbourg in 1758, Quiberon Bay in 1759 and against Manilla in 1761.
