Antigonus swears his loyalty to Leontes, wearing armour and fur-trimmed cloak, in an attempt to save Leontes' young daughter's life. Quotations either side of title. After John Opie (1761 - 1807) for a series of scenes from Shakespeare plays after paintings in Boydell's 'Shakespeare Gallery', which opened in 1789 in Pall Mall.
