Leopold II of Belgium (1835-1909), Duke of Brabant from 1840-65 before succeeding his father, Leopold I as King of Belgium in 1865. He is also remembered as founder and owner of the Congo Free State, Belgium's only attempt at a foreign colony, which was run to raise as much money as possible, without regard to the locals.
