Plan of Edinburgh and Leith. From the Best Authorities.
Coloured engraving. 560 x 420mm, 22 x 16½". Damaged.
Scotland's capital, with fine colour and an inset on its environs. This map was apparently used in part of the Great Post Office Reform started 1839, championed by Rowland Hill. Two extra manuscript circles of red probably marks the extent of free postal delivery. With manusript on verso: 'to be put with Regl. St. 6061 Minute [?] 5th. May 1836.'
