Etching, very scarce. 220 x 325mm (8¾ x 12¾"). Thread margins, mounted at corners on album paper. Very fine impression.
A view of the rustic Wear, trees on both sides. On November 17 1771 torrential rain caused the Wear to rise 8 feet above the previously recorded high point and to sweep away Prebends Bridge at Durham and three of the 14 arches of Elvet Bridge. The dedication is to John Egerton, Bishop of Durham 1771 to 1787.
