Fine wood-engraving by Thomas W. Nason, published in 1937 by the Woodcut Society in Kansas City, Missouri. The Woodcut Society was founded in 1932 by the collector Alfred Fowler and commissioned prints twice a year which were published in editions of 200 for members of the society and provided an affordable way of owning art during the Depression. The society donated a number of prints to the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art in Kansas, which enabled the museum to stage an exhibition of these prints in 2016: 'The 1930s in Prints: A Gift to Kansas City from The Woodcut Society'. Work by Nason was included in this exhibition.
