Beau Parc, County Meath, built in the 1770s possibly by amateur architect Nataniel Clements. This plate was engraved by Thomas Milton after Thomas Roberts (1748-78) and issued in the third installment (of six) of Milton's 'A Collection of Select Views from the different Seats of the Nobility and Gentry in the Kingdom of Ireland', published 1783-93, with a total of 24 plates. Milton (1743-1827), son of marine painter John Milton, is believed to have been a pupil of William Woollett. He later worked on Boydell's Shakespeare series and aquatinted some of Luigi Meyer's views of Egypt.

This is the second plate in the twelve set series 'Select views of Dublin.' Samuel Frederick Brocas (c. 1792 – 14 May 1847) was an Irish artist best known for this series depicting Dublin. He was the second of the four sons of painter Henry Brocas (Senior). From 1803 to 1807, Brocas studied under his father at the Dublin Society Schools. Henry Brocas (Junior) (1798 – 1872) was an Irish artist known for his landscapes and engravings. He was the fourth of the four sons of painter Henry Brocas, whom he also trained under.

Shipping in front of the harbour and town of Dunleary (Irish: Dún Laoghaire or Dún Laoire), near Dublin, Ireland. The town had been officially renamed Kingstown in 1821 in honour of a visit by King George IV, but reverted to its Irish name by resolution of the town council in 1921, one year before Irish independence. From a plate engraved for the Stationers' Almanack. The Stationers' Company had published the Stationers' Almanack since 1747, a single-sheet which consisted of calendar text set out beneath an engraved headpiece that recorded significant events of the preceding year.

The ruins of Newton Abbey, a 13th century Augustinian monastery. Suppressed in the Dissolution of the Monasteries in 1537, it is now an Irish National Monument. In the foreground is "the Tomb of the Jealous Man and Woman", that of Lucas and Jane Dillon. Sir Lucas Dillon (1530-92, judge of the trial of Nicholas Nugent, hanged for treason in 1582) and his wife are separated by a sword of state, which may suggest some estrangement between the couple.

A plan for improving the landward defences of Duncannon Fort, a star fort that had been built 1587-88 to defend Waterford from possible invasion by the Spanish Armada. The 'Skinner' mentioned in the title is probably William Skinner (1700-80), who was Chief Royal Engineer from 1757 until his death, working on Gibraltar, St Philip's Castle on Menorca and Fort George near Inverness.
