A white grouse in a rocky landscape. It was engraved by the Hungarian Samuel Czetter in the style of George Edwards. Czetter (or Tzetter, 1769-1829) worked in Vienna and Moscow, primarily engraving portraits but also a series of illustrations of the defences of Vienna.

This appears to be the Crested Fireback, Lophura ignita, a forest pheasant with a peacock-like dark crest, bluish black plumage, reddish brown rump, black outer tail feathers, red iris and bare blue facial skin. From Sir George Staunton's 'An Authentic Account of an Embassy from the King of Great Britain to the Emperor of China', describing the expedition of Lord Macartney (1737 - 1806) as the first British ambassador to China.

Five kiwis in a landscape, from 'Zoological Sketches by Joseph Wolf. Made for the Zoological Society of London, from animals in their vivarium, in the Regent's Park', issued in two parts, 1861 and 1867. Kiwi arrived at London Zoo in 1851, making it the first zoo to keep the bird, but the first breeding in captivity only occurred in 1945. in 2007 only 13 zoos worldwide held kiwi. Joseph Wolf (1820-99), a German artist, specialized in natural history illustration, and is considered one of the great pioneers of wildlife art, having depicted animals accurately in lifelike postures. He worked with John Gould on 'The Birds of Great Britain'. Sir Edwin Landseer considered him 'without exception, the best all-round animal artist who ever lived'.

Lorie; a parrot, given to the Princess Victoria by the Hereditary Prince and Prince Albert of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha, which afterwards belonged to the Duchess of Kent. The original picture was sketched at the Palace, December 22nd 1837, and was left to the Queen by the Duchess of Kent; it now hangs at Osborne. From "Her Majesty's Pets being a Collection of Twenty Steel-Place Engravings from Paintings by Sir Edwin Landseer, R.A. By Special Permission of, and Dedicated to Her Most Gracious Majesty the Queen".

James Barenger (1780 - 1831), nephew of William Woollett, the eminent engraver. He obtained some celebrity as a painter of racehorses, dogs, deer, and other animals, which he exhibited at the Royal Academy from 1807 until his death. From a series of fourteen prints "British Feather Game", depicting English game birds, all engraved by Charles Turner and published 1810-12.
