An interior scene in which Queen Anne (1665-1714), who sits on the throne, is presented with the Acts of Union, signed 1st May 1707, which united Scotland and England and formed Great Britian.

In 1812, the Royal Society of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce awarded the silver medal and ten guineas to Mr Thomas Boyce for a life boat or safety buoy, and the silver medal to Mr T. Cleghorn for a buoyant line, to preserve the lives of mariners.
