Scene in trompe l'oeil border showing a boy dangling a mouse in front of a cat; verses below drawing analogy with love, delighting in teasing those who fall victim to beautiful women. Engraved after François Eisen (c.1695-1778), painter who specialised in such genre pictures in a light-hearted Flemish manner. Part of a series of prints in this format after paintings by Eisen, with texts focusing on love, beauty and deception.
