Fisherman bringing in their nets on the shore in the foreground, with a castle and other buildings around the lake behind. From a series by Francesco del Pedro (1749 - 1806) after Joseph Vernet (1714 - 1789), the famous marine painter. Vernet studied and worked in Rome (1734-53) until recalled to Paris where he was commissioned to paint a set representing French harbours (the 'Ports de France'). Published in Venice by Nicolo Cavalli (1730 - 1822).
