After Jean-Baptiste van Mour (1671-1737), the Flemish-French painter, remembered for his his detailed portrayal of life in the Ottoman Empire during the Tulip Era and the rule of Sultan Ahmed III. The engraving was seemingly the source for G.A. Guardi's 'Dergoumidas Before the Grand Vizier', one of his 'quadri Turchi' painted for Field Marshal Count Johann Matthias von der Schulenburg (1661-1747). Guardi's painting was sold at Sotheby's in 2005 (Old Master Paintings Evening Sale, 7 December 2005, lot 61).
