Decorative scene after Giovanni Francesco Romanelli (1610-62). Engraved by William Baillie (1723-1810). Baillie retired from the army in 1761 with the rank of Captain and thereafter devoted himself to printmaking and dealing. He specialised in imitating old-master drawings and prints, using a variety of printmaking techniques.

The infant Jesus puts a ring on the finger of St Catherine of Alexandria (early 4th century), Christian saint and virgin martyr, patron of education and learning, mystically 'married' to Christ. The Virgin Mary behind, with cherubs in the clouds all around. By Capt William Baillie (1723 - 1810) who retired from the army and became a picture dealer. He was also an amateur then semi-professional printmaker, later selling his plates to Boydell. After Giovanni Francesco Romanelli (c.1610 - 1662).
