A string-quartet practice, while two women and a child in background to right. A bust of Franz Joseph Haydn, the 'father of the string quartet', occupies a prominent position in the centre of the scene. From the 'études de moeurs' series' showing high society engaged in leisure activities. The series consists of at least four plates.
