A summer house in the parkland of Claremont in Surrey. Plate III from 'Four views of Claremont, the residence of His Royal Highness Prince Leopold of Saxe-Coburg...' 1819 by Harriot or Harriet Gouldsmith (1787 - 1863, later Harriet Arnold). A professional landscape painter, Gouldsmith visited Claremont in October 1818, and this etching is taken from a picture painted by her there.

Sir John Ross (1777 - 1856), Rear-Admiral and Arctic explorer. In 1850 he set off on his third voyage to the Arctic, in a futile search for the missing explorer Sir John Franklin. He died in London in 1856.

A portrait of naval officer John Ross (1777-1856) who made three journeys to the artic, in 1831 he was the first European to cross the North Magnetic Pole and in 1850 he undertook a voyage to try and find Sir John Franklin who had gone missing four years before.
