A large image of the first Duke of Wellington on horseback, returning the salute of a pair of Chelsea pensioners. Wellington had retired from political life in 1846 although he kept his seat in the Lords, as well as the role of Chief Ranger and Keeper of Hyde Park and St. James's Park. He died less than a month after this event.
