This scene depicts an Aboriginal settlement, with a number of men and women lying under small, tent-like shelters, by a fire, who have been woken by a figure returning from a hunt. The figure holds a spear and is greeted by a dog rushing towards him. After John Heaviside Clark, later known as "Waterloo Clark" for his depictions of Wellington's triumph in 1815.
