Sir Watkin Williams-Wynn, 5th Baronet (1772 1840), was a Welsh politician who sat in the House of Commons from 1794 to 1840. Williams-Wynn was elected Member of Parliament for Beaumaris in 1794 and held the seat to 1796. In 1796 he was elected MP for Denbighshire and held the seat until his death in 1840. He was referred to as the 'Prince of Wales' and had a keen interest in military affairs. In 1794 he raised a cavalry regiment called the "Ancient British Fencibles" and took part in the suppression of the Irish rebellion of 1798.
