Gavin Hamilton (1723-98) was a Scottish painter, archaeologist, and antiquary, best known for commencing the excavations of Hadrian's Villa, outside Rome. This work contaned engravings after the Italian masters, including Michelangelo, da Vinci, Raphael & Caravaggio.
